A SUCCESSFUL RESUSCITATION

June Crozier from the Heybridge First Responder group, was attending a funeral in the nearby village of Tollesbury, when the organist, John Crossley, collapsed and went into cardiac arrest whilst playing the organ.

Whilst June rushed to fetch her AED from her car, a nurse commenced CPR. After two shocks, the patient returned to spontaneous circulation before the arrival of the HeliMed air ambulance which took him to hospital where John had a triple by pass operation.

He was reunited with June at the Boreham airbase. John said, "I am extremely grateful to June, as without her speedy action, I would not be here today."

Published with permission of THE RESPONDER, an East of England Ambulance Service publication.

June Crozier receives a certificate on behalf of the Heybridge Group at a reception held at Broomfield Ambulance Training Centre for First Responder Groups. Certificates were presented to Groups that have been active for over five years.

FIVE YEAR CERTIFICATES

Ann Fisher and Gordon Brown were amongst a group of First Responders who were awarded certificates for completing five years of service. These were presented by Paul Leaman, Associate Director of Community Partnerships, at Springfield Community Centre.

CALLOUTS

We were very pleased to welcome a new member to the Group in May. He has contributed a tremendous amount of time which has made May the busiest month on record, with 15 calls. June, July and August have also been busy,  taking the total to 69 for 2010, more than at the same stage in recent years.

See the Who We Are tab for more details.
